Brad came home from the hospital about 4:00 a.m. with the very sad news that his mother had passed away. She was very peaceful in the end, and simply stopped breathing. This whole ordeal over the past 7 weeks just proved too much for her body, I think. It looks like she probably had an ischemic stroke of some sort. I am glad I went up to the hospital earlier in the evening. Though she was unable to talk, we made eye contact, and she knew I was there. At the end, she was surrounded by her devoted husband and 3 of her 4 children. Brad's sister in Ontario did not make it down, since his mom's conditon deterioriated so quickly.
She was a great, funny, courageous, kind, and loving lady. Despite the limitations imposed on her physical body (she had muscular distrophy), she had a broad, generous, and cheerful spirit. We will all miss her terribly.
Rest in peace, dear Charlotte.

Thanks, Paul. I am going into work this morning to tidy some things up, but will be taking the afternoon and several days next week off. The funeral will probably be on Monday.
I felt my heart drop the second I read the title of your post. I'm so, SO sorry to hear this news. Condolences and big comforting hugs...
Please extend my condolences to Brad and his family. Fortunately his mom is no longer in pain and can rest eternally in peace.

Thanks very much, Maurice and Mark. This is a rough weekend. We just finished part one of the visitation, with part two later this eveing. The funeral is tomorrow. I am taking at least Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off and Brad's sister from Ontario and her husband are staying with Brad's dad all next week.

Maurice told me about such a terrible lose. I'm really sorry for you, but specially for Brad as I know via Maurice how important she was for him. Please tell him that I share his pain, I understand what it means. I had also lost an important woman in my life: my granmother.
