Hey all. Hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend. Well, it's a holiday weekend here in North America (Labour Day on Monday). Is it in Europe and Mexico/South America as well? It was a beautiful morning here and sunny up until just a few hours ago, but now it's mostly cloudy and there's a 40% chance of showers.
Went to the farmer's market with Shaun (and Mary too!) this morning. I bought some tomatoes, basil for pesto (this batch I'll freeze for a cold day in January!), pasteries, and corn. This will be our first corn on the cob of the season and I'm looking forward to it. When I was a kid, we used to have several end-of-summer corn boils down at the lake. We'd stuff ourselves with ear after ear of sweet corn, ending up with greasy fingers and mouths. We'd play hide and seek or tag until the stars came out at which point someone would usually light a bonfire on the lakeshore. Songs were sung, stories were spun, and we kids would often swim by the glow of the fire. Good times. Carefree times...
After market, I had a quick breakfast and then biked my 21 km. I showered and ran some more errands and than stopped in for a quick visit with Brad's mom at the hospital. Brad is doing a 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift (It's now 3:50 p.m. and he's still not back.) Then I came back home, read part of today's Globe and Mail, did a pile of dishes, and made out our grocery list. If the rain holds off, I'm going to head back out on the deck and finish the paper.
Here's the boyz:
